Memorial Weekend October 8-9, 2022

"Each year, the Foundation sponsors the official national tribute to all firefighters who died in the line of duty during the previous year. Thousands attend the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Weekend in Emmitsburg, Maryland."

Mom, Dad, Rochelle, Dana, and Cherilyn (with less than a week notice) flew nearly 5,000 miles and joined by Tom and Sandra to attend our first official public memorial service for our dear William -- Son, Brother, Head of House, Father, Grandfather, Uncle, Friend, Firefighter, and Hero...

We all were faced with many challenges that could have easily prevented us from attending this memorial services -- last minute work schedule changes, expensive airfare, ground transportation issues, hotel/lodging issues, long drives back and forth, no program packages, etc. -- but our Faith was steadfast and then God took over.  He made everything seamless, even when we did not know what to do when we drove to Emmitsburg.

Three wonderful volunteer firefighters, Chris, Kevin, and Penn took us in their care and escorted us all the way.  Kevin and Penn served as our escorts on both days -- they were truly a blessing.  They got us water, food, blankets, escorted us to restrooms and shuttle buses, and stayed with us the entire time -- they were truly a God-send.  As you will see in these images and videos, we all needed this to properly mourn William and to begin the process of healing and to continue our family tradition -- the "Legacy of Love."

God bless you William.  We miss you so dearly, you are in our hearts forever, and rest assured that our faith will keep us all together for you, as you would have expected.  Thank you Heavenly Father for keeping William in your care.
